Title: "IoT in Industrial Environments: A monitoring architecture proposal for Industrial Wireless technologies"
Abstract: Requirements like reliability, availability and security are essential to the adoption of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) in industrial applications. Standards such as ZigBee, WirelessHART, ISA100.11a and WIA-PA are, nowadays, at the basis of the main IEEE802.15.4 technologies for process-automation. However, the management and monitor of Industrial WSNs is still an open topic, which clearly is an obstacle to reliability, availability and security. The presentation will present some of the work performed on this field. From the proposal of a monitoring architecture, to the evaluation of its impact, and lastly, to the detection of faults and security vulnerabilities in an industrial testbed.
Short-bio: Duarte Raposo is an enthusiastic of wireless technologies, specifically low-power wireless sensor networks for industrial environments. Duarte has received his Master’s degree (2012) in computer engineering from University of Coimbra, Portugal. At present he is a PHD student of doctoral program in information science and technology at University of Coimbra, Portugal and a research student of Centre for Informatics and Systems (CISUC). His research topics are: Industrial Wireless Sensor Networks, network management and diagnostic tools for WSN (using machine learning techniques with logging tools). At the same time, Duarte has also been working in the industrial field, participating in several national and international projects as researcher, network advisor, and software developer
