European project Erasmus+ BLISS - BLOCKCHAIN SKILLS FOR ICT PROFESSIONALS

Description

Catarina Ferreira da Silva (Associate Professor at the University of Claude Bernard Lyon 1, France) is the scientific coordinator of the BLISS project, from which Parisa Ghodous (Full Professor at the UCBL, France) is the coordinator. BACKGROUND & CHALLENGES Blockchain is a technology innovation that is revolutionising industries/public sector and driving economic change on a global scale by reducing the cost of transactions and the time lapse of working through intermediaries. The demand for blockchain related skills (such as communicating the merits of blockchain technology and delivering practical blockchain technology solutions for businesses) in the ICT sector evolves quickly, making continuous professional up-skilling and development of such core competences essential. Still, the blockchain related skill needs of ICT professionals are not sufficiently covered by existing VET programs and apprenticeships; relevant VET provision is insufficient in quality and quantity, fragmented and infrequent, not adequately addressing the emerging training needs of ICT professionals. OBJECTIVES BLISS aims to tackle this challenge by delivering a modular curriculum and OERs on the applications of blockchain technologies, seeking to facilitate the acquisition of skills/competences, required to understand, work with and manage blockchain projects. BLISS objectives are to: 1. Strengthen key transversal competences for ICT professionals, namely initiative & entrepreneurship and updated digital skills, by designing a comprehensive and up-to-date training course in blockchain technology applications. 2. Introduce modern training delivery methods and innovative open access pedagogical resources, enabling learners to acquire and self-assess blockchain related skills, and VET providers resources and methods to integrate in their training offerings. 3. Facilitate the integration of blockchain skills requirements into the EU certification and standardisation schemes. http://blockchain.univ-lyon1.fr/
