AN ADAPTIVE WEIGHTED LEAST SQUARES APPROACH FOR COLORIMETRIC SCANNER CALIBRATION

Abstract
Different methods exist to convert device dependent colourspace into device independent colour space representations.
In this paper a new polynomial based method for colorimetric
calibration of flatbed scanner is proposed. In this
method an adaptive weighted least squares approach is followed
in order to control maximum allowable approximation
errors. The performance of the proposed method is
compared with two other polynomial methods. The evaluation
of these results with limited calibration data-sets is also
compared. The maximum approximation errors achieved
by the proposed method are smaller. This method can be
used in automatic visual inspection or in high quality colour
reproduction applications.
