The reflection about the nature of student failure when learning programming led us to the development of a tool called SICAS that can help students to visualize an algorithm working through its simulation. In this paper we describe the system major features as well as the more recent evaluation study that has been done about it. From this study we can make some conclusions relatively to the benefits and the impact of its utilization that we also report.
