Geo-Referenced Multisensory Information: A Productive Concept For Elementary School

Authors

Abstract

This paper presents geo-referenced multisensory information as a relevant and productive concept in the context of elementary school. The educational value of that concept is highlighted. Previous projects, in which the authors of this paper have been working, namely two educational projects in the context of Portuguese elementary schools (Internet@EB1 and Patrimonio@Viseu) and a research project in multisensory information and communication (Senses@Watch), are presented in order to clarify the different dimensions of the referred concept. Geo-referenced multisensory information is also presented as the central concept of the Schoolsenses@Internet research project that aims the promotion of educational success in Portuguese elementary schools, by overcoming the scholar gulfs to concrete experiences, to different learning and expression styles and to complexity and real learning.
