The Impact of Service Oriented Architectures on Information Systems Governance: a socio-technical inquiry
Authors
Abstract
We are studying the impact of service-oriented architectures (SOA) on information systems governance, namely at the business, organizational, social, and cultural level. Evidence shows that these non-technical issues are critical when adopting this IS design paradigm. Empirical data collected so far confirms the relevance of our research. We will use case studies to help us identify appropriate social theories, field practices, and factors to consider, and that later may originate recommendations for adjustment of existing governance frameworks, such as COBIT (Control Objectives for Information Technology) and ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library).
