Joint Design of the Information System and Quality Management System in an Organization: Theory and Illustration with a Field Case
Authors
Abstract
We describe a case where the information system and the quality management system of an organization where thought-out together. We started by identifying potential synergies between the requirements of the ISO 9000 quality management standard and those usual in information systems development. Then, we reengineered the business processes for admission and support of thousands of students at a major Faculty. The outcome of this study provided several enhancements to the existing procedures and systems. It also provided insights for our longer term goal of conceiving a joint design approach for quality management and information systems.
