Relações semânticas em português: comparando o TeP, o MWN.PT, o Port4NooJ e o PAPEL

Abstract

This paper compares individual resources that contain semantic relations in Portuguese as a first approach towards the representation of the Portuguese language through a general lexical ontology. We start with a short overview of five projects that make these semantic resources publicly available, namely WordNet.PT, TeP/WordNet.BR, MWN.PT, Port4NooJ and PAPEL. Although the accessibility and information represented in each one of these resources differs widely, we attempt to highlight the most evident similarities and differences. Based on individual relations, we present and discuss two initial comparative experiments. We also present some considerations about meronymy, based on how this semantic relation was handled in the resources studied and address briefly the semantic field of colour. Finally, we urge people to create collaboratively more complete, complex and dynamic resources for the description of Portuguese.
