Information Systems Design for a New Reality

Authors

Abstract

An alternative information systems planning method is presented that provides answers to the emerging challenges posed by increasing business pressures, the existence of a highly sophisticated ready-made software market and the need to manage legacy systems effectively. The approach followed is radically different from those found in traditional information systems planning, in that it does without detailed information systems architectures and uses instead an identification of organizational units whose responsibilities may be satisfied with a variety of information systems solutions. The results thus produced are much closer to actual deployment scenarios than those traditionally obtained.
