What Matters Most When Teaching CS1?
Authors
Abstract
Experiences of top school systems suggest that three things matter most to good quality schooling: 1) getting the right people to become teachers, 2) developing them into effective instructors and, 3) ensuring that the system is able to deliver the best possible instruction for every student [6]. If this is true for schools, can’t we suppose that this is also true in teaching CS1? If so, can we deduce that the teacher is determinant in the outcome of the teaching experience? And that the new methodologies, tools and environments are efficient support for these teachers?
