Business Objects in Conceptual Information Architecture Modelling

Abstract

There is no standard definition to business object, however we consider OMGs (Object Management Group) as the closest to the business language. Although it mentions that the business object can be represented in a programming language (implementation perspective), it understands the object as an active thing in the business domain, defining its characteristics in a natural or modelling language. This definition does not establish links between an active thing in the business domain and the software object, and doesn't suggest how to derive the business object from the business. This paper presents, in a representation perspective, the types of business objects we can use to build a conceptual model of an information architecture during the organization information system planning, pointing out in each specification the way they relate within the business.
