Laboratory of Communications and Telematics

The Communications and Telematics group is a top-notch research laboratory that carries out research in the areas of

               • Performance, Quality of Service, and Quality of Experience
               • Management and Resilience
               • Security and Privacy

Current research topics include low latency communications in the cloud, energy efficiency in M2M environments, IoT clouds and virtualisation, human-in-the-loop systems, mechanisms for resillient communication in IoT, resillient communications for critical infrastructures, network function virtualisation, software-defined networks, wireless network security, privacy in mobile devices, secure integration of sensors in the Internet, next generation cellular networks, and communications for industrial automation and control systems. Application domains include people-centric IoT, ambient-assisted living, smart cities, industry 4.0, telecomm infrastructures, and critical systems and infrastructures.

Most CT research is carried out in the scope of European/international projects, as well as national and international R&D industry contracts. Particular attention and emphasis is given to the current European R&D framework, H2020, as well as to international cooperation and joint research activities.

The CT group comprises 9 senior researchers and more than 20 PhD students from various countries.
