Creative Grips and Emancipatory Movements: a Sociotechnical Conjecture about Development Approaches and Online Game Experiences

Abstract
The article offers some online games development scenarios. Anchored on the notion of 'game experienceâ? as the final object of development, the author attempts to transcend the techno-deterministic approaches that focus on technical solutions as predictable instruments for the creation of game experiences and goes into a discussion of socio technical networks governing the emergence and constitution of game experiences. He then argues the demand for a socio-technical approach to the development of multiplayer online games and outlines some of the challenges.
