STUDYING THE SUN IN THE CLASSROOM USING A SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENTAL APPROACH

Abstract

This paper describes a project whose aim is the introduction of scientific experimental analysis to young students. Its main theme is the Sun, and the project bases its approach on the use of an Heliographic database. This database is available through a Website, designed for the scientific interaction between students, teachers, their schools and, ultimately, the Project team. The proposed scientific activities promote the study and exploration of the Sun and its phenomena by using computer software tools. It also gives hints on how to do complementary class work with students in an interdisciplinary and transversal approach.
